The Portland Tango Festival takes place annually in mid September. The upcoming dates are on the festival home page.

We do not restrict registration to ensure perfect role balance. Classes are limited to an equal number of lead and follow slots. For example, in a class with 50 person capacity we will permit up to 25 followers and up to 25 leaders. In the the event of a role imbalanced class, PTF volunteers will do their best to assist in the needed role.

Currently, there are no health restrictions in place relating to COVID-19. The rules for the festival regarding COVID-19 may change, at the Organizer’s sole discretion, depending on the public health situation and mandates regarding COVID-19 issued by the U.S. Government, State of Oregon and/or Multnomah County at the time of the event.

We will have a special flash sale, early bird pricing, and regular pricing for online sales, as well as onsite sales at the Festival.
Yes, entrance to single class or bundle of classes may be purchased online or onsite at the Festival. Individual milongas may be purchased only at the door.
Classes are limited in size and role-balanced as far as possible. There is no preregistration for classes, space in class is first come, first served.
Unfortunately no, even the beginner/all levels classes are intended for students with some familiarity with the basics of Argentine Tango.
But, you can quickly get up to speed so you are able to join the fun! We encourage you to take classes with your local tango instructor prior to the Festival. For information on weekly classes in Portland, visit Porlandtango.com
Yes we do and we deeply care for the safety and wellbeing of all attendees. Our goal is to create an inclusive space for dancers of all ages, abilities, and identities that fosters community, kindness, growth, and of course delightful tango.
The code of conduct is posted in the footer that appears on each page of this website. Please reach out if something is bothering you and you do not feel comfortable. Before or after the Festival you can contact the organizers through this website. During the Festival you can speak to any of the volunteers (classroom monitors, milonga cashiers, registration desk) or the Festival organizers, or send us a message online if you prefer.
