Although Alyssa was dragged to her first tango class, she became a convert to the art form after the very first day. Her addiction stems from the inmate connection one experiences with their partner as well as the affection that comes from a loving tango community. She became the President of the Argentine Tango Club at the University of Oregon for 2 years where she started DJing at regular practicas. Since then she has taught and DJ’ed tango in several places in the United States, and internationally in Shanghai, China. As a DJ, she strives to play accessible and energizing music to help dancers connect to the music, their partner, and the floor of fellow dancers. Alyssa is delighted to be DJ’ing at this year’s Portland Tango Festival, a homecoming to her first tango community.
